Brainstorm Blog #3

For my animation, I was thinking I’d do something with my dogs (because I love my dogs.) My pittie mix, Tawny, likes to dig holes, so there will definitely be one or two in the backyard I can use. I was thinking, what if the holes were portals? What if Tawny had a special power to open wormholes and that’s why she digs holes? I really want to hand-draw most of my animation; I have experience with hand-drawn animation, but I want to practice more, and I’ve never tried animating animals. A walk/run cycle for a dog compared to a human would be a challenge to figure out. I was thinking I’d make little 30-40 second scenes in different environments, like in space, underwater, or in a forest. I was also thinking about a scene on top of a train, or in a cave, or in a snowy mountain, or on a tropical island. For the plot of the animation, I was thinking it could just be following my dog chasing something through portals and trying to catch it, and then at the end, I could cut to a clip of her either waking up or coming in after playing outside and daydreaming about the chase. It could also be fun to add my other two dogs as side characters/costars, and make it a cute little adventure with the three of them.
